The experienced midfield pair of Chris Aitken and Marc Corcoran both missed out due to injury as the Stair Park side ended the Ibrox side’s 15 game winning run in League 1 and they are ruled out of this game as well.
Manager Aitken said: “This would be a huge game to win because the gap between ourselves and the teams outside the top four would widen to 8 points.”
“The last time we played Ayr we gave a marvellous performance in a 6-3 win. The players were magnificent going forward that night and if we could that again I would be delighted.”
Ayr United have a full squad available to player/ manager Mark Roberts with stopper Martyn Campbell back in amongst things following a broken metatarsal that had ruled him out for 2 months.
Despite an abundance of players Roberts is likely to stick with the side that has done will in their last couple of games as he advised: “We have had two wins in a row and two clean sheets in a row so it would be unfair to make any changes. We were particularly good in the second half last week against East Fife and I want that standard again.”
Roberts is however not interested in revenge for the 6-3 game as he explained: “I said at the time that the game was freakish and I stick by that now. Everything went right for Stranraer that night and everything went wrong for us. Nothing like it had happened before or since.”
“I am not motivated by revenge for it all I want to do is win this game and move above Stranraer in the table.”
