Failure to end that run here would raise the the very real possibility of Fulham being bottom of the table when they go to Carrow Road on Boxing Day.Dimitar Berbatov was one of the players restored to the side against Spurs, even though it seems far from certain he'll see out the winter with his current employers.
Actually, Meulensteen and co don't need to look too far to see the kind of thing they need. Aston Villa topped off a good month - little more than that - with their victory at St Mary's in midweek and found themselves in the top half of the table.
Anyone who saw Villa win so impressively at Arsenal on the opening day of this Premier League season could have been forgiven for expecting them to spend most of the campaign in the top 10, but they are clearly still a work in progress. Similarly, it is remarkable after his start to the season that Christian Benteke has gone nigh on three months without scoring.
There also continues to be a suspicion about them that, for some reason, Villa are more comfortable playing away from home. Not what Fulham wanted to hear...

Head-to-head
Fulham have only won four of their 24 Premier League meetings with Aston Villa (W4, D11, L9). All of those victories have come at home, latterly last season when Chris Baird scored the only goal in the 84th minute.
The last four meetings have only produced four goals.

Fulham
Fulham have lost six consecutive league matches for the first time since February-March 2002 in their debut Premier League season.
It's the club's joint-worst start to a top-flight campaign. They had an identical record after 14 matches in 1967-68 (W3, D1, L10) and ultimately finished bottom of the division.
Fulham have won just one and lost nine of their last 11 Premier League games at Craven Cottage (W1, D1, L9).
This the first time the Whites have lost five of their opening seven top-flight home matches.
They have trailed in 11 games this season, more than any other side, and lost 10 of those matches (D1).
Rene Meulensteen's previous managerial experience is limited to half a season at Brondby in 2006-07 and two games in charge of Anzhi Makhachkala at the beginning of this season. In total, he won six and lost seven of his 20 league games in charge with those two clubs.

Aston Villa
Villa have only lost one of their last nine Premier League away matches (W4, D4, L1). Their record of just three away defeats in 2013 is bettered only by Manchester United (two).
Paul Lambert's side are on a five-match unbeaten run (W2, D3), keeping three clean sheets in the process.
They are the only Premier League side yet to drop any points from a winning position.
Christian Benteke, who came on as a substitute against Southampton in midweek, has now gone eight games without a goal.
Fabian Delph registered his first Premier League goal and assist against the Saints.

Arsenal v Everton live Stream Premier League– Preview 8th Dec 2013

Arsenal are expected to restore Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Olivier Giroud to the starting line up after they were rested midweek.Bacary Sagna (hamstring) has been ruled out and Mathieu Flamini is doubtful having injured his groin against Hull.Everton have no new injury concerns so they could field the side that started in their win at Manchester United.
Centre-back Antolin Alcaraz is included in the squad, but Leighton Baines, Arouna Kone and Darron Gibson are out.
Despite their four-point lead at the top of the table, more than a few learned souls maintain that Arsenal won't win the title. Not CAN'T I should stress - of course they could; but they are yet to convince a lot of the football-watching public that they actually WILL.
The main thrust of the naysayers' argument is that to this point the Gunners haven't faced their fiercest tests - other than losing at Manchester United.
Well, judgement month is now upon us, with Arsene Wenger getting his side ready for Manchester City and Chelsea before Christmas - and this game against Everton, which must at the moment be considered as tough an examination as any.
There's the other question over strength in depth that keeps coming up too, mainly over what happens if Olivier Giroud gets injured?
In answer to that hypothetical problem, Nicklas Bendtner's goal against Hull on Wednesday will have pleased Wenger hugely - along with Lukas Podolski's impending return from injury.
The January sales aren't far away either, and with goals flowing from midfield I'm not sensing imminent disaster as much as some people!
Podolski back in full training; Theo Walcott making an impact from the bench; Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain still to come…..you get my drift.
Coincidentally, there's a parallel argument taking place over whether Everton can finish in the top four - and if the next few weeks will make people's minds up about Arsenal, the last week has sorted mine out about Roberto Martinez' men.
Having seen them against Stoke last Saturday I was hardly surprised by Wednesday's first win at Old Trafford since 1992. This is a strong, stylish team being managed superbly by Martinez.
He's back at the ground where his Wigan team was relegated last season, but had won at on the way to staying up the previous year. Now THAT was a surprise.
This 200th meeting of Gunners and Toffees won't answer all the questions being asked of them, but does carry one certainty. It's not to be missed.

Head-to-head
Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 12 Premier League meetings with Everton (W8, D4), with both of last season's matches ending in draws.
The Toffees have not won at Arsenal since a 2-1 win a Highbury in January 1996, nine months before Arsene Wenger arrived in the Gunners hot-seat. Graham Stuart and Andrei Kanchelskis scored the goals in a comeback win. Everton have lost 14 of drawn three of the subsequent 17 trips to Arsenal.
There have been just four goals scored in the last four Premier League meetings between the clubs.

Arsenal
Not only are Arsenal top of the Premier League table but they also top the six-game form table (W5, D1), two points clear of Chelsea.
The Gunners have kept six clean sheets in their last seven games in all competitions, conceding just one goal in the other match (0-1 at Manchester United).
Arsene Wenger's side have taken 39 points from a possible 51 at home in 2013 (W12, D3, L2), including 18 from 21 (W6, L1) this season.
Mesut Ozil has scored three goals and supplied six assists in 11 Premier League appearances.

Everton
Everton are on a seven-match unbeaten Premier League run (W4, D3).
The Toffees have lost only one game in the league this season (away to Manchester City), the fewest in the division.
Roberto Martinez's men have kept three away clean sheets in a row for the first time since May 2009; they last bettered this run with a five-match streak at the end of the 1994-95 season and the start of the 1995-96 campaign.
Everton defenders have scored six goals this season, more than any other club.

No doubt about this one. Ajax is in a flow. Very easy win over ADO which made it 5 consecutive wins in a row. Only one goal conceded, against Barcelona. NAC is a typical home team, bad on the road with only one win. Ajax has a quite easy program till the winter break and I expect to win all matches till that break. They have NAC at home and Cambuur and Roda away.
Siem de Jong will be back for this game and also Bojan will have more minutes. I expect 3-0, 4-0.

Ajax

Siem de Jong is still unavailable for selection and Kolbeinn Sigthorsson – who only returned to training on Wednesday – is a doubt so Danny Hoesen or Bojan Krkić could be tasked with leading the line.
If the former starts then Bojan, hoping for his first start since sustaining a hamstring injury against Go Ahead Eagles in late September, could either start on the bench or even on the right flank with Lasse Schöne dropping out.
With Frank de Boer reluctant to change his midfield, Lerin Duarte is expected to remain at left-back with Daley Blind continuing as the controller.

NAC Breda

Nebojsa Gudelj has a fully available squad to pick from.
He is likely to name the same eleven that drew at home to FC Groningen; a game that they should have won, having led 2-0.
