Head-to-head
The teams were last in the Championship together in 2010-11 when both meetings ended in away wins. Watford won 3-1 at QPR before Rangers won 2-0 at Vicarage Road in a match which sealed their promotion to the Premier League.
There has not been a goalless draw between the teams at Vicarage Road since a Division Three (South) fixture in April 1958. The last 28 meetings here have all produced at least one goal.
Watford have won six out of the last eight meetings at Vicarage Road, where the sides have not drawn a match since a top-flight meeting in August 1984.

Watford
Watford's 4-0 win over Millwall on Boxing Day brought to an end their run of 10 matches without a Championship win. It was their first victory since 5 October.
They had lost five consecutive home matches prior to Thursday's victory over Millwall, and have won just five of the 13 matches played at Vicarage Road in all competitions so far this season.
Watford are hoping to record back to back Championship victories, something they have not done since the opening two games of the season.

QPR
QPR lost 2-0 at Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day, therefore suffering consecutive Championship defeats for the first time this season. Defeat at Forest followed a 1-0 home defeat by Leicester last Saturday.
In all, Rangers have won just one of their last four matches, a 2-0 win at Blackpool on 14 December.
QPR have won just one of their last seven matches away from Loftus Road. In those seven matches they have lost three and drawn three.

Hughes was replaced after 76 minutes of the 1-1 Boxing Day draw at Huddersfield with a groin problem while Hendrick missed it with concussion.

Head-to-head
Barnsley have won just one of the last seven matches they have played against Derby. Last season they shared a 1-1 draw at Oakwell after a 2-0 win for Derby at Pride Park.
Both teams have scored in each of the last three meetings at Barnsley.
Derby have not won on any of their last five visits to Oakwell, a run stretching back to March 2007.
Derby's 2-1 victory there in March 2007 remains their only win at Oakwell since 1993.

Barnsley
Barnsley are one point adrift at the foot of the Championship table and still seek their first win since Danny Wilson's return to the club on 17 December. They have drawn one and lost one since his re-appointment as manager.
They have won just one of their last 10 Championship matches, a 2-1 win at Brighton under the caretaker guidance of Micky Mellon.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is without Glenn Whelan and Marc Wilson after they were both sent off against Newcastle.
Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is out for up to six weeks after breaking a finger.
With fixtures coming thick and fast over the holiday period it's the time of year when there have to be compromises in the official matchday programmes. At least one article purportedly from the manager or captain has to start with the words "printing deadlines mean I am writing this before our Christmas action gets underway."
Imagine the scene in the office at Tottenham, as staff earlier this month debated what articles they could commission for the home games against West Bromwich Albion and Stoke.
Ideas are flowing as to how they can fill two magazines, and I can exclusively reveal a few of the features planned back in early December for the Stoke issue, the last of 2013:
An in-depth interview with head coach Andre Villas-Boas, looking at the season so far, but printing deadlines mean it can only take in the campaign up to the Liverpool match.
The "Where Are They Now?" feature focusing on Emmanuel Adebayor, who hasn't been seen in a Spurs shirt for a while.
A behind-the-scenes piece with Tim Sherwood, as he outlines his plans for 2014 in his role as technical co-ordinator.
Obviously all these ideas had to be binned, but as you read the matchday programme this weekend spare a thought for the people who put them together. At least Tottenham have had time to change their plans for the content after an eventful month at White Hart Lane.
If you're thinking this hasn't got a great deal to do with the usual BBC-type preview of Tottenham against Stoke then you're right. But "family commitments and deadlines mean I am writing this before the Christmas action gets underway."

Head-to-head
Tottenham have only lost two of their last 38 home league meetings with Stoke City (W28, D8, L2).
The Potters have won just three of their 10 previous Premier League meetings with Spurs.

Tottenham
Tottenham's league record at White Hart Lane this season is the worst among sides in the top half of the table. They have won just three of their nine matches and scored only eight goals.
They have only managed to score more than one goal in two of their last 11 home games in the Premier League.
After seven clean sheets in their opening 10 league matches, they have not kept one in any of their last eight.
This game will take place exactly six years after Tottenham beat Reading 6-4, one of only six Premier League games to see 10 or more goals.

Stoke
Their defeat by Newcastle was only their second in nine league matches.
They have conceded 15 goals in their last five away matches.
Stoke have played 29 Premier League games in London and have scored more than once in only two of them (17 goals in total).

Chelsea midfielder Ramires received his fifth yellow card of the season against Swansea and will serve a one-match suspension. Manager Jose Mourinho will rotate his squad, meaning Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to return in place of Ashley Cole and Fernando Torres could start. Liverpool's Jon Flanagan could again be absent with a hamstring problem.
Steven Gerrard, Jose Enrique and Daniel Sturridge remain out until the new year. There's always been a bit of niggle, or should that be nibble, in matches between Chelsea and Liverpool. The appearance of Luis Suarez at Stamford Bridge is certain to provoke the home fans into a chorus of disapproval, though I honestly believe that the Uruguayan is one of those players who'd be disappointed not to be booed by opposition fans.
Every photographer will have a lens ready to capture any tasty exchanges between the Liverpool striker and Branislav Ivanovic.
In contrast, Jose Mourinho and Brendan Rodgers are likely to indulge in a display of mutual admiration based on the fact that the latter was first youth, and then reserve-team manager, at Chelsea when the former was in charge at the Bridge for the first time.
Rodgers' Liverpool side emerged with plenty of credit in their game at Manchester City but with no points, so avoiding defeat at Stamford Bridge is crucial.
The league is so tight that the Liverpool team which was top at Christmas could be out of the top four by New Year - I'll take a punt that that's never happened before.
Liverpool should be encouraged that they have lost just one of their last eight games against Chelsea, though they'd have preferred that defeat not to have been in the FA Cup final.
This game should be a personal landmark for John Terry, who will make his 600th Chelsea appearance - assuming he plays. Only Ron Harris, Peter Bonetti and Frank Lampard have made more.
It will also be a 150th game for Chelsea for Fernando Torres; that's eight more appearances than he made for Liverpool, but he's scored 40 fewer goals for the Blues than he did for the Reds.
Scoring is Chelsea's big difficulty. Samuel Eto'o has been putting in performances which add considerable weight to the theory that Didier Drogba, and not Eto'o, is the best striker Africa has ever produced, whilst Demba Ba continues to show why he's being used sparingly.
Between them, Chelsea's three strikers have scored five Premier League goals this season; that's a total matched by Norwich's Gary Hooper - and that says it all.

Head-to-head
Chelsea have won only two of their last 13 Premier League matches with Liverpool (W2, D4, L7).
But five of Chelsea's last seven league wins against Liverpool have come under Jose Mourinho.
Luis Suarez scored a second-half equaliser in both league meetings with Chelsea last season.

Chelsea
The Blues have only lost one of their last eight league games.
Jose Mourinho's side have now kept two clean sheets in a row in the league after only keeping one in their previous 11.
Mourinho has won 54 and lost none of his 69 Premier League matches as a manager at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool
Liverpool have only won one of their last six away games in the league (D2, L3): a 5-0 win at Tottenham.
They have scored 29 goals in their last 14 trips to London in the Premier League (2.07 per game).
The Reds have conceded a total of only three goals in their last nine end-of-year games.

Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote will return to the squad after missing the win over Stoke through suspension.Manager Alan Pardew has no new injury concerns, with Jonas Gutierrez still recovering from a calf problem. Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey misses out with a thigh injury picked up in the Boxing Day win over West Ham.
But Jack Wilshere is available after suspension and Tomas Rosicky could return after being rested against the Hammers. Classic repeats are a staple of Christmas TV, and MotD2 viewers on Sunday certainly wouldn't mind a reprise of what happened when these two teams met exactly a year ago. On 29 December 2012, Arsenal beat Newcastle 7-3 in one of the highest-scoring matches of the Premier League era.
You can't rule it out happening again - both teams have already been involved in goalfests in December, with the Gunners losing 6-3 at Manchester City while Newcastle put five past Stoke on Boxing Day.
And this fixture has a habit of throwing up big scores, with Newcastle having fought back from 4-0 down to earn an unlikely point in February 2011.
Newcastle's Boxing Day win was helped by red cards for two Stoke players - and their manager - but that shouldn't detract from the form the Magpies have shown throughout November and December, when they have picked up 21 points out of a possible 27.
Depending on other results on Sunday, Alan Pardew's side could find themselves going into 2014 in the top four.
Arsenal's 1-0 win in the corresponding fixture on the final day of last season clinched their place in the top four but the Gunners currently have their eyes on a higher prize.
Manager Arsene Wenger said the fighting spirit his side showed to come back against West Ham, ending a run of three games without a win, has proved that Arsenal are title contenders.
And they now have the chance to go into the New Year top of the table, something they haven't done since 2007-08.
That season, they slipped up in the second half of the campaign to finish third - should they go into 2014 top of the pile, Arsenal fans must hope that a repeat of that particular ending doesn't get an airing.

Head-to-head
There were 11 goals in the two meetings between these sides last season but only one came at St James' Park, where Arsenal won 1-0. The Gunners won 7-3 at the Emirates.
Newcastle have won just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Arsenal (W1, D5, L6).
The Magpies have not won on any of the last six occasions they have hosted Arsenal in the league (D4, L2).

Newcastle
Newcastle have won seven of their last nine games.
The Magpies have scored in 15 of their last 16 league games, only failing to score in a 0-3 defeat against Swansea.
Yoan Gouffran has scored in five consecutive Premier League home games for Newcastle United.

Arsenal
Arsenal's victory against West Ham on Boxing Day came after three games without a win, the Gunners' worst run of the season.
Alongside Tottenham, Arsenal have won the most points away from home in the Premier League this season (19).
Arsenal have won the most Premier League points in 2013, and their current 79-point tally in the year cannot be surpassed by any other side.

Goalkeeper Joel Robles will make his first Premier League start for Everton in place of the suspended Tim Howard. Gareth Barry also serves a ban after being booked for the fifth time this season on Boxing Day, but Leighton Baines may return from a broken toe. Southampton defender Dejan Lovren could feature, having missed the Boxing Day win at Cardiff because of illness.
Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Osvaldo are in contention to return from injury but Artur Boruc and Victor Wanyama are out.
There are occasions on which a manager takes more positives from a defeat than a victory - Everton's surprising reverse at the hands of Sunderland was one such example. Despite being down to 10 men for two thirds of the fixture, Roberto Martinez looked on with pride as his short-handed side dominated proceedings, putting in the kind of display that reaffirmed to him that his squad are oozing with character and self-belief.
That they were unable to find an equaliser was down to some resolute and defiant defending by a team desperate for survival and an inspired goalkeeping display by Vito Mannone.
It would therefore seem likely that Everton will go into their match with Southampton unscathed by their pools coupon-busting defeat - only their second loss of a terrific season.
The only question may be regarding how much energy they were forced to use up by exerting relentless pressure on Sunderland - the wisdom in re-arranging the Saints game to Sunday may prove to be a masterstroke, giving Everton an extra 24 hours to rest weary limbs.
The visitors will arrive off the back of one of their most comprehensive performances of the season so far, as amidst the highly-charged atmosphere of the Cardiff City Stadium they were able to cruise ruthlessly to their biggest away win of the campaign.
It was a timely result too as, despite continuing to impress all those who watch them, it actually ended a poor run of six winless games and eight without a clean sheet.
They'll also have fond memories of their most recent visit to Merseyside, when they inflicted Liverpool's first defeat of the season back in September.
That, though, is their only victory against a side in the top half of the table and, having secured only one win in 14 Premier League visits to Goodison Park, an away victory seems improbable.
Hang on a moment, didn't I say that about the Sunderland game…?

Head-to-head
Everton are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League meetings with Southampton (W3, D4).
The Saints have only won one of 14 Premier League trips to Goodison Park (W1, D3, L10), a 2-0 victory in November 1997.

Everton
Everton suffered their first home defeat for a year against Sunderland on Boxing Day.
They have not suffered successive league defeats since February, and last lost back-to-back home matches in October 2011.
Twelve of Everton's last 14 Premier League goals have come in the second half.
Roberto Martinez's side have earned 34 points so far this season, two less than his Wigan team picked up throughout the whole of 2012-13.
The Toffees have the best defensive record in the division, conceding 17 goals and keeping eight clean sheets.
Romelu Lukaku has gone five matches without a goal, his longest barren run in the last two seasons.

Southampton
Their 3-0 victory at Cardiff on Boxing Day ended a run of six matches without a win and eight games without a clean sheet.
Mauricio Pochettino's side have only once beaten top-half opposition this season, winning 1-0 against Liverpool at Anfield in September.
Jay Rodriguez has scored seven goals in his last 10 Premier League games, with five of the last six coming away from home.
Rickie Lambert has scored or assisted nine goals in his last 10 league matches (four goals and five assists).
