About The Series: The series premiered on August 11, 2013, on AMC, with the first season consisting of ten episodes. It is based upon the 2006 British two-part miniseries of the same name. During the series whenever a character mentions preferring 'American' or 'Lafayette' Coneys they are referring to a kind of all beef hot dog topped with meat chili, white onions and yellow mustard which local to Detroit and has its origins there....In October 2011, AMC began developing the series and ordered a pilot in May 2012, with writer Chris Mundy serving as executive producer and showrunner for the series.In August 2012, it was confirmed that Ernest Dickerson would direct the pilot;filming for the pilot began in September 2012 in Detroit.AMC ordered Low Winter Sun to series in December 2012 with a ten-episode order; the series returned to Detroit to film the remaining nine episodes, for which production began in spring 2013. According to Mundy, the state of Michigan approved $7.5 million in incentives for the series' production. Low Winter Sun is expected to create 245 jobs and spend approximately $26 million in the state....James Ransone and Mark Strong were cast in July 2012, with Ransone playing Damon Callis, a member of the Detroit organized crime syndicate and Strong reprising his role as detective Frank Agnew, which he played in the original British miniseries. Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Athena Karkanis, and Lennie James were cast in August 2012, with Hudson playing Charles Dawson, the commander of Frank’s precinct, Karkanis playing detective Dani Kahlil, and James playing a cop named Joe Geddes. About The Show: The first seven-episode season ended on March 9, 2008. The second 13-episode season premiered on March 8, 2009 and concluded on May 31, 2009. Series genl Info: The show debuted on October 1, 2006, on Showtime and the sixth season premiered on October 2, 2011.Set in Miami, the show's first season was largely based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, the first of his series of Dexter novels.Subsequent seasons have evolved independently of Lindsay's works. It was adapted for television by screenwriter James Manos, Jr., who wrote the first episode.He had 45 blood slides in his first box before it was destroyed and now has about 43 slides in his new box. Plus twenty or so people that he didn't collect blood from.Dexter structures his killing around "Harry's code", a body of ethics and procedures devised by his adoptive father Harry Morgan (who was a Miami cop) to make sure Dexter never gets caught and to ensure that Dexter kills only morally wrong people. Harry also trained Dexter in how to interact convincingly with other people despite his dissociative mental illness, which Harry believed to be psychopathy, arising from Dexter witnessing the brutal murder of his biological mother, Laura Moser. Ray gets his license plate number, and goes to her door, and tells her what has happened. It turns out that that they know each other. She has a drink, and then they begin to kiss. It turns out that she has Epilepsy, and she has a small time seizure. Later on Ray is in the stalkers room, and threatens him not to go near her again, and if he did he would die. Ray goes to his brother and his brother tells him that his father is coming, and he has a half brother. After that they go to his clients party, where his client feels betrayed and tells his wife that he ****** the girl. His wife gets mad. He then brakes the old clients finger. Later on Ray talks to his wife, and warns her to stay away from his dad, because he is coming. Back at the girls house, she is doing yoga in her living room, and the stalker is on her patio watching her. Later on Ray and his father meet, and they talk. Ray gets mad, and leaves. As the episode comes to a close, Ray is beating the stalker to death. Meanwhile back at Ray's house, Mickey is at the front door, Ray's wife lets him in, and the episode ends with Mickey hugging the daughter.I think Liev Schreiber is great as it is, but he plays an interesting role in Ray Donovan, and backed by an equally interesting cast. It took me until the second episode for the show to really catch me; when it did, it did big time. We often get a little glimpse of father/son relationships in certain shows, but Ray Donovan gets real gritty with that area. In fact, the whole family aspect gets a very unique spin here compared to others....So far, I'm loving this show. It's a refreshing piece of work. The acting is wonderful. Jon Voight gets to show off his acting chops (for any naysayers, they can naysay forever- Voight can act!), and of course the dynamic between him and Schreiber plays well. Eddie Marsan and Dash Mihok are enjoyable to see in the smaller roles of Ray's brothers; one with Parkinsons, the other an addict (of anything he can get his hands on). The story of the Donovan family has a lot of depth to it, and I'm excited to see where it goes as the season goes on. Ray's job, the location, Hollywood, the rich and famous; these things just add some exciting texture to it.
