Chelsea defender David Luiz could return after suspension in Sunday's FA Cup third-round clash with Derby. Frank Lampard (muscular injury), Branislav Ivanovic (knee) and Marco van Ginkel (knee) all remain unavailable through injury. Derby goalscoring midfielder Craig Bryson faces a fitness test after sustaining a knock on Boxing Day.
Rams head coach Steve McClaren may use the opportunity to give Jeff Hendrick some playing time. The Rams have been in impressive form since McClaren took charge at the end of September, and have won eight of their past 10 fixtures. And Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho knows an in-form Derby side cannot be underestimated.
"Do we lose? Do we win? Who knows? At least the message is we respect them and we go there with the best possible team," he said.
"The next game after Derby is Hull at the weekend. We can play against Derby and have a day off on Monday.
"I think the players are also keen on it, to go with a strong side and at least tell our opponent that we are going there with maximum respect."
Despite Derby's good form under McClaren, the former England manager knows Chelsea will present their toughest examination of the season.
"This is a huge test for us and we're up against a side that, I would expect, will finish in the top two in the Premier League. I'd be surprised if they don't," he said.
"The players need to show self-belief and that comes from demonstrated ability, as confidence does, and we would like to think we have built it up over the last few months.

"It's about us too - we know how good Chelsea are but we need to remember what we do well every week and not go into our shells."
This is the seventh FA Cup meeting between Derby and Chelsea. Each team has won twice and there have been two draws.
Their most recent FA Cup meeting was in the third round in 1988, when Chelsea won 3-1 at the Baseball Ground.
Derby were FA Cup winners for the only time in 1946. Chelsea have won the competition seven times, with all seven of their FA Cup victories coming between 1970 and 2012.
