Manchester United will be without strikers Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie for Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie against Swansea. Rooney (groin) and Van Persie (thigh) are both injured, as is winger Ashley Young (shoulder). Swansea winger Pablo Hernandez is likely to miss out after sustaining a hamstring injury. Leon Britton (illness) is a doubt while Michu, Michel Vorm and Nathan Dyer are all definitely out.
Rooney missed United's trip to Norwich on 28 December with a groin problem and, despite returning for the New Year's Day loss to Tottenham, was pictured leaving a private hospital in Manchester on Friday.
He could return for the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Sunderland on Tuesday.
United have not won the FA Cup since 2004, when they beat Millwall in the final.
Manager David Moyes said: "If you are a club like Manchester United, you want to be involved in all competitions. For this club not to have won the FA Cup for 10 years is a bit of surprise. It's something we will try to do and we will do everything we possibly can to try to get through on Sunday."
Swansea have never won at Old Trafford and come into the tie on the back of seven games in all competitions without a victory.
Defender Ashley Williams insists visiting United is still a special occasion, despite the Premier League champions having lost four home games already this season.
"It's an important game as we haven't won in so long, but going to Old Trafford is a special occasion for any footballer," he said.
"We will try and enjoy it and we will try and put a few things right. I think they are a top-class side, there are no worries about United as far as I am concerned."
Provisional Manchester United squad: De Gea, Lindegaard, Johnstone, Rafael, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Vidic, Buttner, Fabio, Valencia, Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverley, Giggs, Anderson, Zaha, Januzaj, Welbeck, Kagawa, Hernandez.

Provisional Swansea squad: Amat, Taylor, Flores, Williams, Britton, Shelvey, Bony, Cornell, Lamah, Routledge, Tiendalli, De Guzman, Rangel, Canas, Pozuelo, Tremmel, Vazquez, Richards, Davies, Zabret.
United have won the Cup 11 times, more than any other team.
The furthest Swansea have ever been in the FA Cup is the semi-final stage. They reached the last four in 1926 and 1964.
This is the first time Manchester United have played Swansea in the FA Cup. Earlier this season United won 4-1 at Swansea in David Moyes's first Premier League match in charge of United.
