Chievo started their season with a goalless draw at Parma. An away point to start the season is decent enough from the under dogs but they host Napoli this week who is much stronger side then Parma.
Chievo
Chievo opened their season with a goalless draw at Parma. An away point to start the season is decent enough from the Flying Donkeys but this week's home tussle with Napoli is much stronger task.
New manager Sannino has had a clear out this summer as 8 players have left the club or gone out on loan. Likewise Chievo have introduced 6 free signings and 2 loanees as they look to stay well clear of the danger zone this season.
In last week's draw Cheivo had just 41.6% of the ball which was to be expected away from home. Going forward they produced a huge 17 attempts whilst conceded 14 the other way. How the game ended 0-0 is a bit of a mystery but Chievo can't be as wasteful against a side like Napoli.
Napoli
Napoli started life under Benetiz with a 3-0 thumping of Bologna at the Stadio San Paolo. On Saturday they play the early kick off at Chievo who despite drawing looked decent enough in their opener.
Some decent players left Napoli last season most notably Campagnaro, Gamberini, De Sanctis and Dossena but the biggest sale was Cavani for £55m. His sale alone has funded the additions of Mertens, Reina, Callejon, Armero, Albiol and Higuian as this squad looks well equipped for the Champions League and Serie A.
In the home opener a brace from Hamsik saw off Bologna as Napoli had 56% of the ball and 16 attempts at goal. Defensively they conceded 8 shots but with the score 3-0 at half time they sat back and coasted home to victory.
Chievo Verona: Puggioni, Cesar, Sardo, Papp, Drame, Radovanovic, Sestu, Rigoni, Hetemaj, Paloschi, Thereau.
Napoli: Reina; Maggio, Albiol, Britos, Zuniga, Behrami, Inler; Pandev, Hamsik, Insigne, Higuain.
