Southend expect Ryan Leonard and Barry Corr to shake off niggles, but loanee Luke O'Neill is sidelined. Skipper John White will see specialists on Monday about his shoulder injury. The absence of the £14million duo means Yannick Sagbo and Matty Fryatt will be hoping to impress against League Two opposition and former Tigers manager Phil Brown.
Current Hull boss Steve Bruce will rotate his starting XI but is without Tom Huddlestone (suspended), James Chester (hamstring), Robbie Brady (groin) and Sone Aluko (Achilles).
Southend expect Ryan Leonard and Barry Corr to shake off niggles to feature against Hull.
Both were on target in the 3-0 win over Chesterfield at the weekend but ended the game with a foot and a calf knock respectively.


Corr has not trained all week but boss Brown, who faces the Tigers for the first time since leaving the KC Stadium, is hopeful both will be cleared to play.
But loanee Luke O'Neill is sidelined with a thigh problem picked up on Saturday while skipper John White will see specialists on Monday about the shoulder injury that has seen him miss the Shrimpers' last two games.
But the Tigers are without Tom Huddlestone (suspended), James Chester (hamstring), Robbie Brady (groin) and Sone Aluko (Achilles).
