It has been quite a week for the Spurs star who on Thursday added the Football Writers' Player of the Year award to his PFA Player and PFA Young Player of the Year gongs.

Andre Villas-Boas will be looking for his side to put on a similar showing to their last home game where they beat deposed champions Manchester City 3-1.

Southampton come into the game all but safe from relegation, but they did lose 3-0 at home to West Brom in their last outing.

Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino will expect his side to respond to their defeat last week and claim at least a point to take them to the 40-point mark which would rubber-stamp their status as a Premier League side before the final two games of the season.

Tottenham will give a fitness test to Mousa Dembele (hamstring) before deciding whether to include the midfielder in the squad to face Southampton.

Striker Emmanuel Adebayor (knee) and midfielder Jake Livermore (hamstring) are available they sat out the 2-2 draw at Wigan last week.

Midfielder Sandro (knee) and defensive duo Younes Kaboul (thigh) and William Gallas (calf) are unavailable.

The duo serve the first of their three-match bans at White Hart Lane, having

both been sent off in last weekend's heavy home defeat to West Brom.

There is some good news, though, as Luke Shaw looks set to feature after an ankle injury.

Tottenham Hotspur play host to Southampton at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon, looking to continue an impressive record. The Spurs are clearly on top, having won 31 and lost only 10 of the 51 games.

The last time the two teams met at Tottenham Hotspur was back in December 2004, over five years ago, with Tottenham Hotspur annihilating their visitors 5-1 in a Premiership match.

Southampton have an average recent record on the road, collecting 1 win and 3 draws from the last six played. The Saints's have scored 7 goals in these games, but conceded an alarming 8.
Tottenham Hotspur's total of 62 points from their 34 games sees them sitting in the playoff places in Barclays Premier League.
Southampton see themselves just below half way in the Barclays Premier League, showing a record of 39 points from their 35 games played so far.
