Southampton will assess Dani Osvaldo and Steven Davies, but the duo are likely to be available despite missing out last weekend with minor injuries.
However, midfielder Guly do Prado is expected to be sidelined because of a knee problem.
A year ago Southampton slumped to the bottom of the table after a truly dreadful start to life in the top echelon.
Inevitably, there was talk of an immediate return to the Championship. Twelve months on and they are riding high above both Manchester clubs. A six-match unbeaten run leaves them fifth.
Such defensive shortcomings will be eagerly exploited by a Southampton side enjoying their best start to a top-flight season. Remember, they scored late on to get a point at Old Trafford and won at Anfield in what is Liverpool's only defeat of the season.
The strength of Mauricio Pochettino's team is their defensive work. They've only conceded three goals, the best record in the Premier League, and Artur Boruc has only been beaten by Robin van Persie in his last six games.
The odds on another clean sheet for the Poland international should be slim. The Britannia faithful haven't seen their team score since 24 August. That was during Mark Hughes' honeymoon period, but it didn't last long.
To avoid speculation of a speedy divorce he needs something from this one to stop the rot.
