Newcastle welcome back defender Mathieu Debuchy, who missed the win against Norwich through suspension. His return could mean either Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa or Mike Williamson drops to the bench.
West Brom head coach Steve Clarke says he has "lots" of minor injury doubts but is unwilling to publically reveal which players are struggling.
Scott Sinclair, Billy Jones and Liam Ridgewell have been sidelined in recent weeks but are nearing comebacks.
These two teams head into this clash with very different mindsets.
Newcastle's response to losing the Wear-Tyne derby has been perfect, with nine points from nine available, including impressive victories over Chelsea and Tottenham. Confidence and belief will be rising all the time.
West Brom's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, though, will have felt like a defeat. The Baggies were cruising at 2-0, but were eventually held to a sixth draw of the season.
Newcastle will certainly expect to record a fourth straight win. The defeat at Sunderland is their only reverse in the last six matches, and for once all the talk on Tyneside is about matters on the pitch.
Whilst there was understandable frustration in the last transfer window about the lack of new faces, it's worth pointing out the effect that their one acquisition has had.
Loic Remy's season-long loan move from QPR hardly dominated the back page headlines but his influence so far has been immense. His goal against Norwich was his eighth league goal in as many matches and his 14th in the Premier League since arriving in January.
Steve Clarke, who returns to the club where his coaching career began 15 years ago as assistant to Ruud Guilt, will be well aware of Remy's threat.
This is the Baggies' 13th game of the season. At that stage last season, Clarke had recorded eight victories in a dream start as a manager but if he wins this it would be only their fourth win of the current campaign.
Whilst they are difficult to beat, with just one defeat in nine games, they've found it difficult to close out three points and move themselves higher in the table.
Two month ago a trip to Tyneside may have been an easier proposition, but now all the momentum is with Newcastle and Alan Pardew will hope it stays that way.

Head-to-head
The Baggies have won just one of seven Premier League games away to Newcastle (W1, D2, L4).
The last seven top-flight encounters have produced a total of 29 goals.

Newcastle United
The Magpies have won their last three league games. It is their best run since a sequence of six successive victories between March and April 2012.
Loic Remy has scored eight goals in his last eight appearances for Newcastle.
All but one of Newcastle's 17 league goals this season have been scored by Frenchmen.
Prior to the latest round of matches in the top five European leagues, only Lyon (20) had more league goals from French players.

West Bromwich Albion
West Brom could become only the second team in Premier League history to draw 2-2 in three successive games. Liverpool did so between August and September 2002 (against Blackburn, Newcastle and then Birmingham).
The Baggies have drawn four of their last six league games. Their total number of draws, six, is the joint highest figure in the top flight (along with Everton).
They have lost only one of their last nine league games (W3, D5, L1).
Shane Long has scored three times in his last two league appearances. His second goal against Aston Villa on Monday was the 300th scored in this season's Premier League.
Victor Anichebe has scored more Premier League goals against Newcastle United (four) than versus any other team.
