Anton Ferdinand, Joey Barton and Argentinian Alejandro Faurlin will be available if required after returning from loan spells abroad.

Sheffield Wednesday will be without Lewis Buxton and Kieran Lee.

Defender Buxton is struggling with shin splints, while midfielder Lee requires surgery to resolve a hip problem and will be out of action for two months.

Albanian striker Adthe Nuhiu will be included in the squad as long as the club receive international clearance in time following his recent arrival from Austrian club Wels and fellow summer recruit Jacques Maghoma, signed from Burton, is also hoping to be involved.

Versatile midfielder Jeremy Helan turned his season-long loan from Manchester City into a permanent move this summer and is likely to start, while boss Dave Jones has no other injury or suspension worries.

Striker Atdhe Nuhiu will be included in the squad as long as the club receive international clearance in time following his move from Austrians Wels.

Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers return to the Championship after two seasons in the top flight and are targeting an immediate return to the Premier League, which has been achieved 15 times since its inception in 1992.

The R's will want a repeat of their last opening day result at this level, when they beat Barnsley 4-0 at Loftus Road in 2010.

Harry Redknapp's club are starting a league campaign in front of their home supporters for the sixth successive season (W2, D1, L2).

Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday survived for a second season in the Championship after promotion from League One in 2012, finishing four places and four points above the relegation zone.

Dave Jones's side failed to score in 16 of their 46 Championship games last term - no club exceeded that.

The Owls have lost an opening day fixture only once in eight seasons (2007).
