Manchester City's Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and David Silva are fit to face Cardiff despite missing the midweek FA Cup victory against Blackburn.Sergio Aguero scored on his return from a calf injury in that tie, but fellow forward Stevan Jovetic remains absent.
Cardiff are without injured pair Andrew Taylor and Jordon Mutch.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must decide whether to give first starts to new signings Magnus Wolff Eikrem and Mats Moller Daehli.
He was a Champions League-winning hero for Manchester United but it's impossible to see anything but heartache for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on his return to the city as his new Cardiff side tries to stop the Etihad Express.
Manchester City have the best home record in all Europe's top leagues - played 10, won 10, 38 goals scored, just six conceded. One more goal will take them to 100 for the season in all competitions. They have averaged 4.5 goals a game in their last 10 home matches. They seem unstoppable there.
Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero have already reached 20 goals. Edin Dzeko needs five more and City will become the first top-flight side to have three players to hit 20 in the same season in all competitions since Liverpool with Kenny Dalglish, Terry McDermott and Ian Rush in 1981-82.
I know Cardiff beat them earlier in the season but that was when the newcomers were basking in the glory of promotion and before the split between chairman Vincent Tan and former boss Malky Mackay.
Solskjaer was never on the winning side in Manchester derbies and it would be one the greatest Premier League shocks of all time if the Welsh club ended their five game-run without a victory at the Etihad.
In fact, the Norwegian might fancy putting his boots back on. Cardiff's August hero Frazier Campbell has added only two more league goals to the brace he bundled past Joe Hart that famous afternoon, while the injured Jordon Mutch is on the same figure of four. They just don't look as they have anything like enough to trouble the home side.
But then who saw that defeat in Cardiff coming on 25 August? What if the excellent Yaya Toure does push forward once too often, leaving Fernandinho exposed, and Cardiff counter decisively? What if Craig Bellamy can roll back the years against his old club? Surely it can't happen?
It'll be a seventh consecutive league win for Manchester City, won't it? It's their title to lose, isn't it? The destination of the title will certainly be decided by games like this.

Head-to-head
Cardiff were 3-2 winners in the first top-flight meeting between the two clubs for 51 years last August.
Manchester City have never played Cardiff at the Etihad Stadium, but were unbeaten at Maine Road in seven league and cup matches between 1963 and 1985.

Manchester City
City are vying to register seven consecutive league wins for the first time since August 2012, when success against Southampton on the opening day extended a run of six straight victories at the end of the previous campaign.
It is two months since City lost a league game, away to Sunderland.
City have scored 99 goals in all competitions this season.
Manuel Pellegrini's side have scored almost four times as many goals (59) as Cardiff (15) in the Premier League.
They have scored a league-high five last-minute goals this season.

Cardiff City
Cardiff have only taken one point from their last five games (D1, L4)
Defeat for the Bluebirds would extend their winless run to six games - the first time they have endured such a sequence since March 2008.
Only Crystal Palace have failed to score on as many occasions as Cardiff City (11) this season.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer never won against City in four attempts as a player with Manchester United, although he did score once (D2, L2)
