Everton are expected to recall Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini after they started on the bench in the midweek cup victory over Stevenage.
Darron Gibson (knee) and Antolin Alcaraz (hamstring) are still not fit.
The first big shock of the Premier League season was Cardiff's thrilling defeat of Manchester City.
It was a result as unexpected as it was welcome for most neutrals and particularly those who wanted proof that the seriously motivated can still sometimes put one over the seriously loaded with a little help from a raucous and cacophonous crowd.
Cardiff were excellent and clearly took Manchester City by surprise. They have been ambitious in the summer sales and the early signs are promising.

Team News:
That win over City was just the sort of performance and result that became Everton's speciality under David Moyes, when they would frequently bloody the noses of the Premier League's so-called elite.
It is much too early to judge as to whether or not Everton have lost that stubborn streak but Roberto Martinez has made a start which can only be described as 'ok'.
They could have beaten Norwich and should have beaten West Brom in their last Premier League fixture but two draws and a laboured League Cup win over Stevenage is hardly heady stuff.
Life for Martinez has not been made any easier by Moyes' determination to raid his old locker for some of the best bits of the team he built. You can hardly blame the new Manchester United manager but Evertonians will be dismayed if Baines and/or Fellaini are sold before Monday's transfer deadline.
Everton have not won a Premier League game away from home since January's trip to Newcastle, though they have drawn more than they have lost since then.
A first trip to play Cardiff in Wales since 1979 would be a good time to end that run and could really get Martinez off and running - but it will certainly not be easy.

Head-to-head
Cardiff and Everton have met 33 times in all competitions but this is the first ever meeting in the Premier League.
The last league meeting between the sides was April 1962 when Everton ran out 8-3 winners at Goodison Park thanks to a Roy Vernon hat-trick.
Cardiff have not beaten Everton at home since a 1-0 triumph at Ninian Park in an old First Division clash in December 1956.

Cardiff City
Cardiff have the chance to win back-to-back top-flight matches for the first time since April 1962.
The Bluebirds have lost just one of their last 13 home matches in league competition (W6 D6 L1).
Malky Mackay's team beat Manchester City in their last match despite having only 30% of the possession, as calcuated by Opta.
Craig Bellamy could become the first player to score for seven different clubs in the Premier League. He has previously scored for Coventry, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, Blackburn and West Ham.

Everton
Including eight games as Wigan manager, Roberto Martinez has won just one of his last 10 Premier League matches (W1 D5 L4).
Only once under David Moyes (in 2010-11) did Everton fail to win any of their opening three games in a Premier League season (D1 L2).
Nikica Jelavic has only scored one goal in 21 hours and 47 minutes of Premier League football.
The last time the Croatian scored away from Goodison Park in the Premier League was in a 2-2 draw at Wigan on 6 October 2012.
