The debate and publicity surrounding Hugo Lloris's head injury at Everton last Sunday led to a tetchy response from manager Andre Villas-Boas, while on the pitch all was well as Jermain Defoe scored a club record 23rd European goal to help Spurs qualify from the group with two games to spare. It remains to be seen whether Defoe gets much of a look in this weekend, but Lloris, who was rested on Thursday, will return in goal a week on from the collision with Romelu Lukaku that briefly knocked him out. Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas has said that Hugo Lloris will start in goal after sitting out Thursday's Europa League match in the wake of being knocked unconscious at Everton.
Several first-team players will return, but Sandro and Danny Rose are absent.
Newcastle are hopeful that captain Fabricio Coloccini will return to the side after missing the last four games with a groin injury.
Cheick Tiote is also expected to be fit, but Steven Taylor is again out.
It's a strange quirk, when you consider the talent they have, that Tottenham have only scored nine goals in their 10 league matches this season.
That's just one more than QPR managed at this stage last year and the same amount as Wolves did in 2011-12 - when both those sides went on to finish bottom of the league. They've been stingy at the back too though, with an impressive seven clean sheets so far.
Keeping clean sheets, certainly in matches against Tottenham, isn't something Newcastle have specialised in over recent seasons. They haven't managed to do so in any of the last 17 encounters.
Alan Pardew's team haven't won at White Hart Lane for just over five and a half years but they will be in good spirits after the 2-0 win over Chelsea last week.

Head-to-head
This is the 150th meeting between the sides. Tottenham have won 63 matches, Newcastle 54 and there have been 32 draws.
Newcastle's last four visits to White Hart Lane have all ended in defeat, with Tottenham scoring 10 goals to Newcastle's one.
However, the Magpies have won six away games at White Hart Lane in the Premier League - they have only won more at Villa Park (eight).

Tottenham
There have only been 14 goals in Tottenham's 10 league games this season. Spurs have scored one goal fewer (nine) than struggling Fulham but have twice as many points. They have also scored 19 goals fewer than Man City but are one point above them.
Spurs have kept seven clean sheets in the league this season, more than any other side prior to this weekend's fixtures.
They are yet to concede a goal to a non-London side in the top flight this season.

Newcastle United
Thirteen of Newcastle's 14 league goals this season have been scored by Frenchmen. An Englishman has not scored any of their 33 Premier League goals in 2013.
One of those Frenchmen, Loic Remy, now has six goals in his last six league games.
Their 2-0 win over Chelsea ended a run of six league games without a clean sheet.
The Mapgies are the only team outside of the bottom three to have conceded more than 10 goals away from home this season.
