Boss Billy Davies has options should he wish to make any changes. Defenders Dan Harding, Greg Halford and Danny Collins and forwards Jamie Mackie, Ishmael Miller and Matt Derbyshire were all on the bench at Ewood Park.

Winger Djamel Abdoun, a summer signing from Greek side Olympiacos, is still building up his match fitness but could be in contention by the end of the month.

Chris Eagles is a doubt for Bolton but is close to making a full recovery from the ankle injury that kept him out of last week's 1-1 draw with Reading.

Manager Dougie Freedman will leave it late before making a decision on his playmaker but will also be without the injured Andre Moritz who is still a few weeks away from a return.

The Trotters will also have long-term absentee Stuart Holden missing but Jay Spearing is in line for his second start after joining permanently from Liverpool at the end of last week.

Tim Ream, Craig Davies and Adam Bogdan all returned from international duty unscathed and are likely to feature in the matchday squad as Bolton go in search of their first league win of the season.

Head-to-head

A total of 84 matches have been played between these clubs since 1892 and only one win separates them; Bolton 31, Nottingham Forest 30.

Last season saw their first league meetings in more than a decade, and both matches finished all square.

The Trotters have won three and drawn five of their last eight league and cup matches against Forest, since the east Midlands club achieved an odd goal in five victory at the City Ground in the Premier League in October 1995.

Nottingham Forest

Billy Davies has inspired Nottingham Forest to victories in all three league and cup games, and clean sheets in both Championship matches, against Huddersfield (1-0 home) and Blackburn (1-0 away).

Forest last won their first three fixtures of a league campaign in 2006 in League One, when they also kept three clean sheets.

They last picked up nine points out of nine at the start of a season in the second tier in 1997.

Bolton Wanderers

Bolton have registered 1-1 draws in both of their opening league matches, away to Burnley and home to Reading.

They are the only club to have drawn both outings in this Championship campaign, but have never started a league season with three straight draws.

Should they have their defences breached at the City Ground, it will take the Trotters' total of away goals conceded in second level league football to 900.
