Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc could make a comeback after a six-week absence with a fractured hand.Dani Osvaldo and Victor Wanyama are absent, but Gaston Ramirez and Rickie Lambert are expected to be passed fit.West Brom caretaker head coach Keith Downing, who takes charge for the last time before handing over to Pepe Mel, will be without defender Billy Jones.
Goran Popov is also out, while Youssouf Mulumbu and Victor Anichebe are back in training but unlikely to feature.
So West Brom have finally settled on their man, but when the news was confirmed on Thursday evening I couldn't help but think they'd gone round in a big circle before ending up almost where they'd started.
Pepe Mel had been the favourite earlier in the process, but the club appeared to rule him out a couple of weeks ago over differences surrounding the appointment of his backroom staff.
It seems everyone has had second thoughts though and the new Spanish coach will now work alongside Keith Downing and Dean Kiely as he begins his 18-month contract. Mel, who guided Real Betis to seventh place and Europa League qualification last season, will be at St Mary's but only as a spectator. Keith Downing, who's steadied the ship in the month since Steve Clarke's sacking, will take the team for one final time.
The club decided to make a change on 14 December after a run of four straight defeats and just one win in 10, but they're unbeaten in the league under Downing, with a win and three draws.
If this weekend's game is anything like last season's, Albion's new head coach will be greatly encouraged. They won 3-0 at St Mary's last April in an entertaining match that also saw referee Robert Madley correctly show three red cards on his Premier League debut.
Southampton, who according to their manager are missing out on some decisions this season because they're too nice, ended up with only nine on the pitch by the final whistle.
Gaston Ramirez and Danny Fox were both shown straight reds, along with the visitors' Marc-Antoine Fortune.
Southampton are on a poor run of results with just one win in the last nine and have suffered from both a tough schedule overall in recent weeks and some defensive errors, certainly in the match I saw at home to Spurs.
They were as high as third at the start of November but have dropped to ninth. A top-four finish was always unrealistic but they're better than the recent run suggests and their four goals against Burnley in the FA Cup should have helped bolster confidence ahead of this one.

Head-to-head
Southampton's win over West Brom on the opening day of this season was only their second in their last nine matches against the Baggies.
This is the 70th meeting between the sides. Southampton have won 25 times, West Brom 22 and there have been 22 draws.

Southampton
Southampton are without a clean sheet in five home league matches, having kept four in a row in September and October.
Despite their reputation as a neat passing team, statistically they play more long balls per game (an average of 70) than any other side in the Premier League.
Their players have been caught offside 63 times this season, more than other side.
Adam Lallana has been dispossessed 48 times this campaign, more than any other player in the division, while Jay Rodriguez has lost the ball due to a poor touch more times (52) than any other.

West Brom
Their win over Newcastle on New Year's Day was their first in 10 Premier League games.
It was also the first time they had kept a clean sheet in that period.
They have picked up more points against sides currently in the top half of the table (11) than they have against bottom-half sides (10).
Claudio Yacob has made more tackles (73) than any other player in the Premier League this season.
