The Philadelphia Flyers look for their second win in as many nights as they head into Pittsburgh to take on their hated rivals.
The Flyers finally had the statement game that everyone has been looking for from them as they went into Ottawa and absolutely pasted the Senators by a 5-0 mark and will look to build on that momentum heading into Pittsburgh. Philadelphia has been one of the league’s biggest disappointments this season as team with so much talent hasn’t been able to generate the success they should and now head into Pittsburgh to take on their fiercest rivals in what should be another hotly contested game. The Flyers will turn to Steve Mason in this one as he matches up against Marc-Andre Fleury and for a series that has seen a ton of goals in recent memory there is no reason to expect anything different as there should be plenty of special teams opportunities in what should be a highly physical affair.
The Penguins have the bragging rights in Pennsylvania at the moment as they sit near the top of the league standings while the Flyers near the bottom, but regardless of the juncture in the season and where the teams sit in the standings this will always be a great game with plenty of fireworks. The advantage the Penguins have here is that they catch the Flyers in a back to back and even though they dismantled the Sens last night they surely will be tired come puck drop here and Pittsburgh is a team who can exploit that as they’re so deep offensively. While I was expecting a great contest between these two and we could still see one I am more tempted to side with the Pens as they’ll have fresh legs and are just the better team. There is no value in taking the Pens so I suggest a regulation play or pairing them up in a parlay.
