Samuel Eto'o is set to start in attack for Chelsea against Schalke in the absence of Fernando Torres.Torres, who scored twice against the German side in Gelsenkirchen last month, misses the Champions League tie at Stamford Bridge with a leg injury.Left-back Ryan Bertrand is also sidelined for the Blues through injury.Schalke are sixth in the Bundesliga after recovering from defeat by Borussia Dortmund in the Ruhr derby with a 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin. Highly rated midfielder Julian Draxler is expected to start for them after scoring his first league goal of the season on Saturday, while Greek centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos, a reported target for Liverpool in the summer, is close to returning from a knee problem.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has warned fans not to read too much into his team selection after claiming he made "11 mistakes" in the side he named for the Premier League defeat by Newcastle.
"I don't want people to see the changes I make as though someone's paying for the defeat at Newcastle," Mourinho said.
"You have to make changes, not to punish people, far from it, but to try to get the best team to win the game."
After defeat on Tyneside, goalkeeper Petr Cech says his side are keen to avoid another autumnal slump in form, with Chelsea having won just six of 21 matches played in the past three Novembers.

"We always say, 'Be careful, because November was not the greatest month', and we said it again two years ago and again last year," said the Czech Republic international.
"The last three seasons it didn't really work out and that is very hard to explain."
Despite losing 3-0 to Chelsea at home two weeks ago, the Germans won on their last visit to London, beating Arsenal with goals from Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Ibrahim Afellay in October 2012.
Neither scorer will be available to face Chelsea, with Huntelaar injured and Afellay back at parent club Barcelona after a loan spell, but defender Joel Matip believes they can repeat their win over the Gunners.
"One year ago, no-one thought that we could earn something at Arsenal. And we have something to make up for," Matip said.
