The Cumbrians secured their first point of the season at the U's and manager Greg Abbott is not expected to make too many changes, but he also has the option of recalling either Kevin Feely or Mike Edwards.

Striker Lee Miller and Matty Robson both returned to the side on Friday and are expected to continue, as is former Crystal Palace defender Danny Butterfield, who made his debut at Colchester.

Leicester captain Wes Morgan may sit out the game as a precaution.

Morgan missed the Foxes' 3-2 home league win over Birmingham on Saturday with a back injury and manager Nigel Pearson looks likely to rest his centre-half for the second-round clash at Brunton Park.

Fellow defender Sean St Ledger is the only other absentee as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.

Pearson takes his Leicester side to face the club with whom he began his managerial career back in 1998.

If he is unavailable then Paul Thirlwell could continue as a makeshift centre-back, with Kevin Feely and Mike Edwards alternative options.

Leicester are likely to be without Wes Morgan because of the back injury that ruled him out against Birmingham.

Fellow defender Sean St Ledger remains sidelined by a knee injury.]

Head-to-head

Carlisle have won just one of their previous 12 competitive meetings with Leicester City.

Carlisle

This will be Carlisle's fifth consecutive home tie in the League Cup. The only game they lost in that sequence was a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham in third round last season.

No side recorded more shots on target in the League Cup first Round than the Cumbrians.

No player has attempted more shots without scoring in the League Cup than Carlisle's Mark Beck (eight) this season.
