UFC on Fox 8 is almost upon us. At the conclusion of the fight card, the promotion will either have a new flyweight champion or the inaugural champion will continue the reign he began in September 2012.
The man looking to become new champion is No. 4-ranked flyweight John Moraga. Moraga (13-1) has won seven straight fights, including two stoppage victories with the UFC. The fighter looking to hold onto the belt is Demetrious Johnson. Johnson (17-2-1) will look to extend his number of flyweight title defenses to two with a win over Moraga.
The evening’s co-main event is very important to the welterweight division’s rankings. No. 3-ranked Rory MacDonald will face No. 4-ranked Jake Ellenberger in that contest.
MacDonald (14-1) brings a four-fight winning streak into the bout. Ellenberger (29-6) has won his last two. The winner of this fight could very well be booked to face the winner of the upcoming welterweight title bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and challenger Johny Hendricks. St-Pierre and Hendricks will meet in the main event of UFC 167, which will take place November 16.
At the conclusion of the UFC on Fox 8 fight card, which begins at 4 p.m. ET, several fighters will join UFC president Dana White for the post-fight press conference, which can be viewed live right here.
