Amy Winehouse received a posthumous nod by being included in the British Female Solo category, where she is up against Sande, Jessie Ware, Paloma Faith and Bat for Lashes.
The Back to Black singer's father Mitch Winehouse said he was "delighted" for what he said was the first ever posthumous BRIT nomination, adding, "It proves that her music still has an enormous effect on the public now and for the generations to come."
The Rolling Stones were nominated for Best British Live Act; Swift is nominated in the category of Best International Female Solo Artist, alongside Rihanna and Lana Del Rey. One Direction received a nomination for Best British Group.
