Police Inspector William Murdoch takes a new, more scientific approach to solving crimes. Assisted by coroner Dr. Julia Ogden and Constable George Crabtree, Murdoch introduces such concepts as finger marks and lie detecting machines. He has the support of his somewhat doubtful superior, Inspector Brackenreid, though at times, even he finds Murdoch's methods - and claims - somewhat astounding. The fifth season was announced in May 2011.On September 27, 2011, Rogers Media announced that it would not be continuing the series beyond its fifth season. On November 15, 2011, it was reported that CBC had picked up the show and ordered a sixth season, in 2013.A select group of cast and crew from the period detective drama “Murdoch Mysteries” made the trek to the remote northern town last summer. The result, “Murdoch of the Klondike,” will kick off the fifth season Wednesday at 10 p.m. on City.Executive producer and showrunner Peter Mitchell had the idea to blend fact and fiction by having Murdoch, played by Yannick Bisson, travel to Dawson as he embarks on a little soul searching.stars Yannick Bisson, Thomas Craig, Helene Joy and Jonny Harris.
