Nedum Onuoha remains on the sidelines after suffering a recurrence of his hamstring injury while Alejandro Faurlin (cruciate) and Bobby Zamora (knee) are long-term absentees.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, will assess top scorer Lewis Grabban ahead of the trip.
The 25-year-old missed Saturday lunchtime's 1-1 draw with Brighton through illness and he will be assessed by the Cherries' medical staff ahead of Tuesday night's clash.
Winger Matt Ritchie and defender Steve Cook look set to continue in the side having come through 90 minutes against the Seagulls. Ritchie marked his first start of the season with the game's opener while Cook was a surprise inclusion after being stretchered off against Derby.
