Manchester City's fifth league defeat last season came against Tottenham, but that's merely a coincidental footnote to this fixture. The main point is that it came on 21 April, with loss number four having not been suffered until March.
In historical and statistical terms, with four defeats already City's chances of regaining the title aren't great - even at this relatively early stage of what could be one of the most open seasons for years.
No team has been crowned English champions having lost four or more of their first 11 games since the 1967-68 season. That team was City though!
Joe Mercer's side had been beaten five times by this stage (in a 42-game season) but went on to win the league by two points from Manchester United. Where there's precedent there can be optimism.
Spurs' confidence has been hit by two games without a win, although they'll look at the 1-0 reverse to Newcastle a fortnight ago as just one of those games.
They fired 31 shots towards Tim Krul's goal with no reward, as the Dutchman played a blinder.
Will it be Costel Pantilimon or a recalled Joe Hart in the way for this one? City boss Manuel Pellegrini has hinted that the Romanian, left out by his country this week as Hart played for England, will keep his place.
Spurs' shot tally against Newcastle told the story of their season really. No team has tried to score more often and yet, prior to this weekend, only the bottom two - Sunderland and Crystal Palace - had scored fewer goals.
