Bayern Munich will be looking to go to the top of the Bundesliga with a fourth straight win on Tuesday night - but they do so without their Spanish connection.
Thiago Alcantara has been ruled out until November with an ankle injury and Javier Martinez will be rested as a precaution due to an adductor problem for the trip to Freiburg, with Bayern already looking towards Friday night's UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea in Prague.
``We will decide (on Monday night) whether or not we rest players,'' Bayern coach Pep Guardiola said.
``I think it's going to take over two months before Thiago can play with and help us again.
``We're going to miss him. Two months is a long time. Maybe he returns in mid-November.''
One player Guardiola can count on is Franck Ribery, who is in line for the award of UEFA Best Player in Europe at a gala evening on Thursday.
``Franck made the difference in winning all the titles (last season),'' Guardiola said. ``He is incredible and has great quality and has been here for six years.
``In my two months here, I have realised how good Franck is. Franck deserves the title and I hope he is made happy on Thursday.
``It's an honour for him to be in the final three.''
It is an honour for Freiburg to be playing against Bayern, according to their coach Christian Streich, who is relishing the prospect.
``What more could we want?'' he said. ``We're playing a Bundesliga game against Bayern Munich and we've got to be courageous, well organised and enjoy the occasion.''
Francis Coquelin and Admir Mehmedi will not be allowed to enjoy it as they are both suspended following red cards at the weekend, but Mike Hanke could be in contention.
