biggest games of the season, but the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off
final takes some beating in terms of importance.
The opportunity to become a Football League side and the chance to escape one of the hardest divisions to get out of in England is one that doesn’t come around often.
In this all Welsh affair, Wrexham and Newport County will lock horns at Wembley at 3pm on Sunday.
Having witnessed Swansea claim the League Cup, Cardiff City win the Championship and Wrexham triumph in the FA Trophy, one of these sides will continue the good season that Welsh clubs have enjoyed.
Andy Morrell’s Wrexham visit Wembley for the second time this season, having won the FA Trophy with a penalty shoot-out win over Grimsby Town back in March.
Wrexham's player-manager guided his side to the semi finals of the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs last season, where they fell short to Luton Town, and he will not want a repeat.
Wrexham overcame Kidderminster in their semi-final clash, beating them 5-2 over two legs. To some this result was a surprise as Kiddy had been one of the form sides throughout the season and the two had met in the league in the run up to the semi-final, with Kidderminster winning 2-1 at the Racecourse Ground.
Opponents Newport were early title contenders in the Blue Square Bet Premier but eventually finished third, 10 points behind champions Mansfield. Beating Grimsby 2-0 over two legs in the semi-finals, County will look to return to the Football League for the first time since reforming back in 2001.
Manager Justin Edinburgh is in his second season as manager and will take his side to Wembley for the second season running, following his side's FA Trophy final defeat against York City. Edinburgh has made significant progress with the club in such short time having guided them from 19th last season to a play-off final appearance this year.
Goals have come in the form of Christian Jolley and Aaron O’Connor who have managed a combined total of 34 this season - and they will have to be on form on Sunday. When the two sides met during the league season, Newport managed just one point from a possible six, losing 2-0 away at Wrexham and securing a 1-1 draw at Rodney Parade.
