FC Twente Enschede

The Tukkers suffered a demoralising 3-0 defeat at the hands of PSV Eindhoven in their last league encounter at Philips Stadion on December 9. A first-half Georginio Wijnaldum strike coupled with a goal each from Tim Matavz and Luciano Narsingh in the second-half was enough to secure a comfortable victory for PSV.

After finishing sixth last term, the Tukkers have set their sights on winning the title come the end of the ongoing 2012/13 season. Occupying the third spot on the Eredivisie table at the moment, the Enschede giants have thus far remained unbeaten at home, and have claimed good results on the road as well. They have an overall record of 16 played, 10 won, 4 drawn and 2 lost.

Steve McClaren, the Tukkers head coach, has expressed confidence ahead of his side’s upcoming league tie against the Almelo outfit, and has urged his troops to put in a convincing show to secure an easy win on Friday.

“We want to always win after a defeat. Then it is important that as a team we come back strong”, the English trainer said while talking to journalists.

Heracles Almelo

The Heraclieden are heading into the game on the back of a hard fought 1-1 draw against FC Utrecht at Polman Stadion on December 7. Lerin Duarte gifted the hosts a lead within the opening 20 minutes of the game, but Christian Dorda’s unfortunate own goal restored in the 27th minute. Both sides failed to find the winner in the remaining action of the game, and had to share spoils at the end.

After finishing 12th on the league table last term, the Almelo outfit would be eyeing a better finish at the end of the ongoing 2012/13 season. However, they have thus far deceived their fans with erratic showings both at home and on the road. Occupying the 10th spot on the Eredivisie table at the moment, they have an overall record of 16 played, 4 won, 7 drawn and 5 lost.

Peter Bosz, the Heraclieden boss, has admitted that his side will face an uphill task in the upcoming game on Friday, but has expressed confidence that his troops could claim a good result if they put in their 100 percent.

Head-to-Head statistics

FC Twente have won two of their last five meetings against Heracles. Two games ended in stalemates, while the Heraclieden claimed a victory in the remaining match.

Players to watch

Dusan Tadic – FC Twente Enschede

The Serbian ace failed to assert his authority in his side’s 3-0 defeat against PSV last weekend, but would be keen to help his side claim all three points on Friday.

Samuel Armenteros – Heracles Almelo

The 22-year-old attacker has remained one of the most valuable assets for the Heraclieden this term. Netting eight goals while setting up four more in 15 league appearances, the Sweden ace would be gunning to keep his impressive form intact.
