Defender Pablo Zabaleta is suspended for his sending off against Wigan in the FA Cup final, while Scott Sinclair is sidelined.
Relegated Reading could have midfielder Hope Akpan available after a four-match absence with an ankle problem.
However, winger Jimmy Kebe and Adam Federici are still injured.
In the wake of Saturday's FA Cup final defeat and last night's dismissal of manager Roberto Mancini, the season cannot end soon enough for Manchester City.
It's a far cry from 12 months ago, when City were celebrating their last-gasp Premier League title triumph.
Assistant manager David Platt is urging City's squad to maintain their focus and finish the current campaign with a flourish.
Speaking after the defeat by Wigan, Platt said: "We have two games left, we have to pick ourselves up for the game against Reading.
"We owe it to everybody, the fans and the football club, to put it behind us as quickly as we can."
While neither side has much to play for in this match, relegated Reading will be keen to not finish bottom, and the players will want to catch the eye of new boss Nigel Adkins.
Goalkeeper Alex McCarthy wants his side to end the season as strongly as possible ahead of a tilt at Championship promotion next season.
"Momentum is massive," he said.
"We know we can win games in the Premier League and if we can end with three wins and take that into next year it would do us the world of good.
"It would be nice to finish the season with three wins on the bounce and give us a lot of confidence going into next season."
