Series Genl info: Bar Rescue is an American reality series that premiered on Spike TV on July 17, 2011. It stars Jon Taffer, a bar consultant, who offers his services, at no charge, to failing bars in hopes of turning their fortunes around.The series is from The Biggest Loser producers J.D. Roth and Todd A. Nelson for 3 Ball Productions/Eyeworks US. Spike announced picking up ten episodes of Bar Rescue in January 2011. The show began shooting in April 2011.It was renewed on September 14, 2011 for a second season in the summer of 2012, from which the first episode of that season aired on July 29. Spike has announced a third season of 20 episodes to start in the first quarter of 2013.Though most bars that are rescued went on to be successful, some bars don't see the same results off-camera. Breakwall, the bar from the Season 1 episode "Beach Bummer", despite its rescue, closed down in January 2012. Seasons 1's Swanky Bubbles, after reverting to the original title, has also closed its doors. The show's first rescued bar of Season 2, Piratz Tavern, reverted back to the original pirate theme.Also, both the Chicken Bone and Angry Ham's both reverted back to their names, and, in the Chicken Bone's case, brought back its previously popular menu, while Angry Ham's replaced unpopular items with previously popular items from their original menu......Bars mean money, but they also mean stress if they aren't properly run. Jon Taffer is a bar and nightclub owner who has started, flipped, or owned over 600 bars and clubs in his career and currently owns one of the most highly respected consulting firms in the bar and nightclub industry. Jon will travel around the country and employ his expertise to return struggling bars to the cash cows they once were. Everything from the science of the perfect pour, to the height of the bar stools is a key factor in making a bar the hottest place in town.
