"We started talking and remembered this story, American Experience, which was this really great documentary, and I thought, 'God, that’s great.I just learned a bunch of stuff I had never learned before.' You just have this cursory information that the Chinese and the Irish built the railroad, but it got in underneath all the dirt and stuff that went on, with the financing of it, and the greed and corruption. And then, I heard about this Hell on Wheels place and I went,'What a great setting for a western.' So, we pitched that to Jeremy Gold and ended up taking it to AMC, and they loved it," he said.Hell on Wheels was created by Joe and Tony Gayton in late 2008, at which point Endemol USA came onboard to develop the series for AMC.The series was developed by Endemol USA's scripted television division, headed by senior vice president of original programming Jeremy Gold. Leeds United face a trip to Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Saturday afternoon, hoping to improve upon an average previous return from this fixture. Of the 31 games played, Whites have recorded 10 wins, and Ipswich Town have come away with 14 victories.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at Portman Road was less than a year ago, in March 2013, with Ipswich Town running out comfortable 3-0 winners in a Championship match.

Striker Paul Taylor's withdrawal at Loftus Road, having already come on as a second-half substitute, was purely tactical and he will again hope to be part of Mick McCarthy's matchday 18.

Tyrone Mings faces a few more weeks on the sidelines with his knee injury.

Meanwhile, Leeds' new signing Scott Wootton is expected to be included in the squad at Ipswich.

The 21-year-old centre-half joined Leeds from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee on Tuesday and manager Brian McDermott must decide whether to keep Tom Lees and Jason Pearce in central defence or hand Wootton his debut.

Midfielder Paul Green is expected to recover from a back problem sustained during last week's derby draw with Sheffield Wednesday, while defenders Stephen Warnock, Lee Peltier and Lees are all likely to shake off knocks.

Head-to-head

• Ipswich are hunting a fifth successive home Championship victory over Leeds.

• The west Yorkshire club have only picked up one point from six visits to Portman Road and scored four goals, since a 2-1 triumph in the Premier League in September 2001.

• The Whites need to score once to take their goals total in competitive matches against Ipswich to 100.

Ipswich Town

• The Tractor Boys are chasing an 800th home league win and fourth in succession, having scored three goals in each of the last three, bridging last season.

• The Suffolk club have only won two of the first four league games of a new campaign once in the last five years.
• Former Bristol City defender Cole Skuse is set to make his 250th club career start.

Winger Eagles has been absent since facing former club Burnley on the opening day of the Sky Bet Championship season and is once more rated 50-50 due to his ankle injury.

Team News:
Striker Ngog missed the defeat to Nottingham Forest because of illness yet he partook in light training on Thursday.
Wanderers are already without Stuart Holden, Mark Davies and Joe Riley (all knee) while midfielder Andre Moritz is still struggling for fitness with boss Dougie Freedman suggesting he may have to wait until Tuesday's clash with Tranmere.
Junior Hoilett is set to miss out for Rangers.
The former Blackburn winger pulled up with a hamstring problem during the second half of last weekend's 1-0 win over Ipswich and could face a spell on the sidelines.
Midfielder Alejandro Faurlin (thigh) and striker Andy Johnson (groin) missed out against Town and remain doubts.

Gary O'Neil could make his full debut following his recent switch from West Ham while rookie forward Tom Hitchcock is likely to be on the bench again after marking his first QPR appearance on Saturday with the late winner.
Freedman will be without the suspended Darren Pratley, but he could recall striker Jermaine Beckford.
Queens Park Rangers arrive at the Reebok Stadium having picked up seven points from their opening three games.
Boss Harry Redknapp is unlikely to make many changes to the side that beat Ipswich Town last weekend, although Gary O'Neil could be introduced in midfield.

Team News:
There were some notable highs for Villa during the campaign, though, and things have started encouragingly this season.
Lambert, who has brought in six new signings this summer, has been delighted with his side's two performances so far in a 3-1 win at Arsenal and 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.
And he says his players are in confident mood heading into Saturday's home clash with Liverpool - another club where there is a definite sense of an ongoing project.
Asked about the way the two teams are progressing, Lambert said: "We have not got the same resources as Liverpool - you look at the spending Liverpool can do compared to ourselves and we can't do that.
"But what we have got is a great football club, a great fanbase behind us and we have a team that I think is proud to be here. I think that is vital for us.
"We are still years away from where we want to get to, but we are certainly getting there."
He added: "It is still early, but we have got a lot of confidence at the minute.
"The ones that were here last year have grown into it. They know what the league is like.
Rodgers, whose side finished seventh in the Barclays Premier League last season, said: "In order to be a winner you have to have the belief. That was something last year we were maybe not able to find consistently.

"But we have picked up a lot. The group has grown over time. It might only have been a small thing last week, but to get that win shows the development mentally.
"I can only speak highly of the players. They are the ones doing the work, they are the ones being driven and asked. To get that last week was very important for us.
"Whatever transfer talk or speculation there has been this week, the bottom line is there are some outstanding players here - top, top players.
"They will hopefully keep finding the ways to win games and hopefully we will add to the squad alongside them."
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez remains the only notable absentee.
The controversial forward is now halfway through the 10-match ban he received last season after sitting out the Reds' season opener against Stoke.
Fellow Uruguayan Sebastian Coates, a defender, is likely to miss most of the season with a knee injury sustained on international duty last week.
Striker Luis Alberto was an unused substitute in that game and still to make his debut, while new signing Aly Cissokho could also be in contention.

Team News:
Even with that impressive record, Stoke only avoided relegation by six points, and Hughes will again be targeting fine home form if they are to avoid being sucked into a dogfight again.
Stoke head into the contest with a near fully-fit squad to choose from, with midfielders Wilson Palacios (illness), Brek Shea (knee) and Jamie Ness (knock) the only absentees.
Charlie Adam is fit for the game, and the Scot is hoping that Stoke can atone for their defeat against Liverpool.
"Last weekend we were disappointed because we felt that we could have got something out of what was a very difficult opening game for us, unfortunately it just wasn’t to be," Adam told the club's official website.
"That is behind us now though, and the biggest objective now is to go and earn all three points against Crystal Palace in front of our own supporters."

Recent form favours Hughes' side. Stoke eased to a 4-1 triumph over Palace in an FA Cup third-round replay last season, although the London club did win in the last league meeting between the two sides, securing a 2-1 victory in the Championship in 2008.
Palace manager Ian Holloway should be able to take heart from a decent performance against Tottenham though, with the visitors needing a second-half penalty from Roberto Soldado to secure the points last Sunday.
However, the Premier League new boys are without a number of first-team players, Jerome Thomas is out with an ankle complaint, while Yannick Bolasie has a hamstring problem
Glenn Murray is still unavailable with a knee ligament injury, and captain Paddy McCarthy is also a doubt as he recovers from a groin problem. .

Team News:
Meanwhile, Paolo Di Canio's side made a poor start to their campaign, slumping to a 1-0 defeat against Fulham at the Stadium of Light.
The Italian's response was to sign Greek teenager Charis Mavrias from Panathinaikos, making him the club's 11th signing of the summer.
Sunderland have not won one of their last five Premier League fixtures and they travel to Southampton having triumphed just twice on the road in 2013.
Saints may hand new signing Dani Osvaldo a role against Sunderland at St Mary's.
Italy international Osvaldo became Saints' club-record signing when he joined from Roma earlier in the week
He arrived on a four-year deal for an undisclosed club-record fee, rumoured to be £15million and is expected to make his debut.
Teenage defender Calum Chambers could retain his place with Nathaniel Clyne short of fitness following a pre-season injury.

Sunderland will be without striker Steven Fletcher (ankle) and Lee Cattermole (knee) for the trip to the south coast, but Craig Gardner is back from suspension.
Defender Phil Bardsley (foot) remains on the sidelines for the Black Cats, which means Wes Brown could feature if he recovers from a knee injury.
Paolo Di Canio's side made a poor start to their Premier League season, slumping to a 1-0 defeat against Fulham at the Stadium of Light.
He looks set to keep faith with central defender Valentin Roberge and may hand his latest signing Charis Mavrias a role in the side.
Opta stats
Sunderland have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches away from home (W1 L6).
The last three Premier League meetings between these two sides have seen just four goals scored in total.

Pardew said: "It's not been the easiest of weeks. There's been a few agendas in my time as Newcastle manager, but this has certainly been very colourful.
"But it's my hundredth Premier League game in charge of Newcastle this week and I'm very proud of that."
Pardew would not be drawn on the possible inclusion of Cabaye, who was not included against City but may return against West Ham despite rumours of imminent improved bids from both Arsenal and Paris St Germain.

Team News:
Alan Pardew blamed the result of Newcastle’s opening fixture to Manchester City on Arsenal’s unwelcome bid for Yohan Cabaye, but if the performance on Monday night sparked by the Frenchman’s absence is a sign of things to come, Newcastle could be in for yet another tough season. Steven Taylor will miss Saturday’s game with West Ham through suspension – Mapou Yanga M’Biwa is likely to play in his place – but the match could come too soon for QPR loan signing Loic Remy.
West Ham look to have built a strong English midfield spine in Nolan, Jarvis, Downing and Cole; that showed as the East London side cruised to victory against newly promoted Cardiff City. Modibo Maiga looks set to retain his place in the Hammers’ starting XI with big summer signing Andy Carroll still out with an ankle injury.
Pardew's latest personnel problems could hardly have come at a worse time with Steven Taylor suspended after his red card at City, Jonas Gutierrez definitely out with a hamstring injury, and Cheick Tiote battling a slight groin problem.
Pardew added: "We need to get a couple of results and pretty quickly I think.
"Two home games give us a new chance after a difficult night on Monday when there were a whole manner of issues going on.
"I have to say on reflection in the first half I think we played very well but they came at us from all angles and unfortunately on the night we couldn't quite cope with it - on another night it might have been easier for us.
"More than anything I feel sorry for our fans, this whole situation of watching their team struggle and get a sending-off and one of the best midfielders in the world not playing - it's hard to take."
Pardew spent part of this week visiting club owner Mike Ashley in the south of France to discuss a strategy for the final week of the transfer window, and knows it is essential he strengthens his squad following the solitary arrival of on-loan Loic Remy so far this summer.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will treat Saturday's trip to his former club the same as any other Premier League game as he looks to continue his recent fine form against the Magpies.
The 58-year-old had an eight-month spell in charge at St James' Park but was sacked in January 2008 following Mike Ashley's takeover of the club, with Newcastle 11th in the league at the time.
Since then, with both Blackburn and West Ham, Allardyce is unbeaten when he has come up against Newcastle, including a 1-0 win on Tyneside last season with Kevin Nolan scoring the only goal against his former club.

The upcoming fixture would have carried extra significance for Allardyce in the past but now any lingering issues with his departure are forgotten.
"I've been back quite a few times," he said.
"It's always about what's going to happen next, how we're going to build a better future, how we're going to become better as a team and improve the club."
The Hammers started their second successive Premier League campaign with a comfortable 2-0 home win over newly-promoted Cardiff last weekend, whilst Newcastle were well-beaten by Manchester City on Monday evening.
But Allardyce will not allow his players to become over-confident going in to the match on Saturday and will use the example of last season's first away trip as a timely reminder to the squad to keep working hard.

Team News:
Steve Bruce's only real injury concern remains Stephen Quinn and he could be tempted to stick to a similar XI, despite the Stamford Bridge defeat.
Sebastien Bassong is pushing for a return following his recovery from injury although he and Gary Hooper may well not make the first team for this match.Last week Norwich were very impressive against Everton and they really did well to get a point. Last season their home record is ultimately what made them such a force but their away form had only 2 wins and I suspect this season they will be aiming to rectify that. Hull City went to the bridge last week and lost 2-0 which to be fair could've been a lot worse. They've got some talented players in their group but it just seems to me Norwich have gone in with just a tad better preparation this season. That said, first home game, crowds going to be backing them. I'll say this one could be close.
