Team News:
The Spanish shot-stopper sat out a 3-2 victory over Tottenham last time out with a calf problem and a decision is yet to be taken on his fitness heading into the weekend.
The Reds will, however, have Joe Allen available on Saturday, with the midfielder prepared to delay undergoing surgery on a shoulder complaint.
The Saints head into the weekend precariously perched just four points clear of the drop zone.
A run of one win in eight has prevented the South Coast outfit from climbing the standings, with much of their season having been spent in and around the bottom three.
They do have fixtures against fellow strugglers to come, but will be keen to make the most of any game on home soil.

Liverpool, though, will arrive at St Mary's buoyed by a three-match winning run.
The Reds have fired themselves back into the hunt for European qualification, with there still an outside chance that they could force their way into the top four.
Brendan Rodgers will be eager for his side to maintain momentum and will be in mood to offer favours to a side scrapping for their top-flight lives.

Southampton

A well-taken finish from Marlon King secured a 3-2 victory for Birmingham over Middlesbrough in the match at St Andrews in December.
It means the Blues are now chasing a third successive win over 'Boro, and a first double over them in 32 years.
The winning side has scored three goals in each of the last four meetings.
Middlesbrough
• Middlesbrough entered 2013 in third place, but they've now slumped to ninth, and had the season started on 1 January, Tony Mowbray's side would be bottom of the table.

Nottingham Forest
• Billy Davies has inspired Nottingham Forest to a five-match winning sequence in which 13 goals were scored and two conceded. They have not dropped a point since being held 1-1 at home by Bolton on 16 February in the first match under their returning manager.
• Forest are hoping to match their six straight league victories in February 2011, but Cardiff is the only one of the top nine clubs they have taken maximum points off.
• The City Ground club have 19 more points than at this same stage last season.

"Everyone one in the Highlands should be very proud of what both clubs have done. There has been some great achievements this year and hopefully both clubs can get into the top six.
Ross County defender Grant Munro: "There have been some great games but we've lost a few of them which is not great, so it's something we want to put right.
"But with Inverness being at home you would expect them to be favourites on their home patch.
"Every game both teams will be going out for the win with both teams having in the back of their minds that if they lose the game it will be a dent in their hopes of getting a top-six place."

Midfielder Isaac Osbourne is still missing with a hamstring problem while Andrew Considine and Chris Clark remain sidelined for the season.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon: "I have prioritised other games in the last two league games.
"Against Motherwell I had my eye on the St Mirren (Scottish Cup) quarter-final which I thought was a huge game for us in the context of the season.
"Obviously the Ross County game was a few days after the last-16 game in Turin.
"What you will see this weekend is a fresh Celtic team ready to go for the title."
Aberdeen manager Craig Brown: "You need to defend well at Celtic Park and the evidence of the season is that we have defended well, particularly well.
"What we haven't done, everyone knows, is at the other end.
"So we take that good defensive record to Celtic Park, we take the enthusiasm and determination to try to finish in the top echelon of the league and I think you'll see a good performance."

Armand Traore is fit again too, and he could push Fabio for a starting role at left-back.
Adel Taarabt is also fully fit, but he is likely to have to accept a place on the substitutes bench.
Both teams come into the game on the back of wins, as Villa grabbed three points at Reading whilst QPR beat Sunderland.

QPR's win was their second in succession, something they had not achieved since their return to the Premier League.
Since QPR made it back to the top-flight, these two have played out three score-draws, so another tight encounter can be expected on Saturday.
QPR's last win in a league match at Villa Park came back in 1992.

Villa:

Mainz are in 7^th position but have struggled recently, dropping from 4^th position a few weeks ago.  They had drawn 4 straight matches before winning at home to Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend so they’ll be confident of keeping up the winning run here.

Possible starting XI’s

Hoffenheim tend to play a 4-2-3-1 with Heurelho Gomes having replaced the awful Tim Weise in goal. Good old Tim, when he arrived at Hoffenheim he proclaimed that the reason he left Bremen was that he wanted to play Champions League football. Oh how the mighty fall and he now finds himself warming the bench for a club that sits 17^th in the league. I digress. With Delpierre missing I’d expect Martin Compper to come into the side to replace him.

Mainz has favoured a 4-2-3-1 this season with Szalai playing the lone striker role being supported by Müller and Ivanschitz. However last week Tuchel slightly altered the formation and played a 4-3-3 with Ivanschitz and Müller being deployed in advanced roles in line with Szalai. It worked well as 1-0 win suggests. I’d be tempted to say that Tuchel may go with a more offensive formation similar to the Leverkusen game given Hoffenheim’s poor home record and defensive frailties. With Soto injured I think Caligiuri may come into replace him in the defensive central midfield role.

Lost against dusseldorf was an unlucky one as the played almost 2/3 of the match with ten players after Varga saw red in the 38^th minute. A win for furth is more than possible here.

NURNBERG V SCHALKE 04 PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

This match sees two of the most inform teams in the Bundesliga take the field and could go a long way to deciding who gains a Champions League spot next season.

Nurnberg had a poor first half to the year which left them in the bottom half of the table.  They are currently 11th with 31 points from 25 games but are unbeaten in their last 6 games, 2 wins and 4 draws.  They will look to keep the unbeaten run going and move up to the top half of the table.

Schalke also had a very disappointing first half to the season and have turned things round.  They have won 3 straight league games to move into 4th place and the final Champions League spot and will feel they are favourites to hold onto it ahead of the very tight chasing pack.  They lost a very exciting game midweek against Galatasaray 3-2 to go out of the Champions League.  This is obviously very disappointing as it was a winnable tie but they can now concentrate on their league performances.

Rangers won 6-2 on their last visit to Elgin in December - a game which was originally postponed on safety grounds after the Moray club sold too many tickets.
However, the Black and Whites, who are sixth in the table, then earned a 1-1 draw at Ibrox in January - a big improvement on their 5-1 defeat in September.
Elgin captain David Niven faces a race to be fit for kick-off against visitors Rangers after suffering a recurrence of the knee injury that kept him out recently.
Niven played against Peterhead last Saturday after a month on the sidelines but he was substituted and is rated as having only a 50/ 50 chance of playing according to manager Ross Jack.

Daniel Moore is also a doubt with a thigh problem, Dennis Wyness is ruled out due to a hamstring complaint and Ross McKinnon with an ankle injury.
Jack said: "We won at Peterhead to end a disappointing run so we can enjoy this game.
"Rangers will either be going all out to make up for their Annan result or a tad nervous. I know which one I would prefer."
Rangers will be without Dean Shiels.
The Northern Ireland forward saw a specialist this week after being carried off on a stretcher during the Light Blues' 2-1 defeat by Annan Athletic last Saturday and it looks set to put him out of the remainder of the campaign.
