The first episode aired on 27 April 2009, and the season one finale was broadcast on 19 July 2009. The first winner of MasterChef Australia was Julie Goodwin, a 38 year old I.T. office manager. A celebrity spin-off, Celebrity MasterChef Australia, began airing from 30 September 2009........Based on the British reality program of the same name, "Masterchef Australia" airs from Sunday through to Friday. The contestants will be led through challenges by host Sarah Wilson which will give chefs from around the country the ultimate once in a lifetime opportunity to develop and broaden their cooking skills. Their weekly challenges include; off-site challenge, mystery box, celebrity chef challenge and masterclass. Each week there will be two eliminations; one decided by the contestants, and the other by the judges.

Season Summery:
The fourth season of MasterChef Australia premiered Sunday 6 May at 7.30pm on Network Ten (with repeats airing on Eleven). The first week took place in Melbourne, before moving to the Sydney base for the majority of the season.Regular judges, chefs George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan and food critic Matt Preston are confirmed for Season 4. This season will see the competition taking the contestants to places nationally, such as Kangaroo Island and areas of Victoria and Tasmania, and the international destination that will be Italy (in Parma area). A number of guest chefs have been confirmed, including internationally renowned chefs Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein and Cake Boss’s Buddy Valastro.
