Newcastle vs Man City Premier League St James' Park 12 Janember 2014 – Kickoff time 15:00 GMT
That's how it feels to me with Manchester City at the moment, with star artists having been assembled from all over the world and encouraged to perform with style and freedom by Manuel Pellegrini - a ringmaster who brings a touch more pizzazz than his predecessor Roberto Mancini.  That is to take nothing away from the Italian, whose work in winning City's first trophies for over 35 years was essential towards what we're seeing now.

Six goals against West Ham on Wednesday took the City total to 92 from 31 games played this season. Half of those have come in the last 14 games, and with results and goals now coming easily away from home too it's obvious why Pellegrini's team is the tip of so many to win not just the Premier League but maybe one or two more pots as well.

You can forgive Newcastle fans for being a touch less enthusiastic about what they might witness this weekend. The Magpies could lose four games in a row for the first time in just over a year , and have been beaten by City in their last nine meetings in all competitions.

Naturally I blame myself. Since hailing Alan Pardew as my manager of the first half of the season, Newcastle have lost every game!

They've also lost Fabricio Coloccini to a knee injury for the next few weeks, and Newcastle without their captain are - like the visitors without Vincent Kompany - noticeably weaker in defence.

Without him they did manage to shut City out until extra time in October's Capital One Cup tie at St James' Park - but that was against a line-up vastly different to the one they'll most likely face this time.

Expect Newcastle to err on the side of caution, try to attack on the break and play it like an away side. Expect Manchester City to win.
